Z-Day!
Today we met Qin Wei Zhong, a.k.a. "Zachary." As I am writing this, he is sleeping just behind me. He is the sweetest little boy. Today we learned about more unbelievable things the Lord has done from the first few days of Zachary's life.
When Zachary was brought into the Civil Affairs office, we didn't even recognize him. He was much bigger than we expected and had hair like Elvis! If you look at an earlier picture of him on this blog, he barely had any hair at all. I have already been told not to cut his hair because it will keep him warm in the winter...among some other "tips" on parenting.
We received Zachary around 4:00. After some paperwork, passport photos and a trip to Walmart to buy some baby food and supplies, we spent the rest of the evening giving Zachary much attention. He has cried hard for a couple of short times as well as whimpered a little. We did get a first laugh out of him. We expect more intense grieving as he grasps what has just happened.
We are pretty tired and must get up early tomorrow to go back to the Civil Affairs office tomorrow for more paperwork. We got to get some sleep, so here is a picture from our first day. Hope to upload more soon...we should have some down time coming soon.
Fell asleep in my arms after a bath and warm sippy cup of formula.

He's gorgeous!!! Praise God from whom all blessings flow!! Zachary, praying your heart is comforted in the arms of your loving parents, and for many more laughs today-- go ahead, they are pretty funny looking and sounding, aren't they?! Here in America we think they're cute, and I'm sure you're already falling in love with them :) Love, The Denny's
ReplyDeleteWowzer! Praise God! He is so beautiful! What a precious life!
ReplyDeleteYay!!!!! So happy to see this post! Beautiful picture! Sounds like things are going 'normal' for the first day. Praying for a smooth transition and good sleep for Z and everybody else.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Beautiful picture. You guys will do just great. Christine, be at peace. Z will be just fine (no, better than just fine). God intended you and Jim to be Z's parents from all eternity and thus, he will equip you with all you need to be the best parents for him. Can't wait to meet him!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you and your family. I'm afraid people are going to mob you when you return. Will you instruct us how to greet Zachary when you bring him out so we don't scare him?
